Meet Ms. Kelli
A licensed teacher with a passion for reading instruction!
Welcome! My name is Kelli Brus and I am a literacy interventionist in Urbandale, Iowa. I've been a licensed teacher and school psychologist since 2009 and have spent many of the past 20 years educating students, creating individual plans to achieve specific academic goals, monitoring student outcomes and progress, and differentiating instruction for students who need more support. Previously I've worked at Heartland Area Education Agency, Ankeny Community School District, and Des Moines Public Schools. ​​
​​Connecting with students, celebrating their successes, watching them make swift progress, and seeing their confidence with reading and writing blossom brings me so much joy! My sincere hope is not only to help children become better readers and writers, but to enjoy it and get excited for it!
Services
Individualized Reading & Literacy Sessions
Personalized literacy sessions for students of all ages (preschool-high school), designed to enhance reading, writing, and spelling skills utilizing Evidence Based Literacy Instruction. Sessions are 1-2 times per week for 50 minutes at a local library in a private room.
Literacy Assessment
An in-depth reading and literacy assessment to evaluate your child's current skills and identify areas for improvement. Assessment can be stand alone or prior to beginning sessions.

Our sessions are private, in a quiet location. Our activities are designed for learners to make accelerated progress in an interactive and engaging way. Traditional reading intervention can take years to work, yet with this approach, students make progress in weeks and months. Your child's skills and effort are celebrated often and with excietment!
